CESAR is seeking a Research Associate to analyze and publish data from an ongoing, longitudinal prospective survey of alcohol use among college students. A PhD-level candidate with post-doctorate experience in public health and/or epidemiology is preferred. New Online Resource for Parents

The Partnership for a Drug-Free America, in collaboration with the Treatment Research Institute, recently launched a new website, Time To Act (www.timetoact.drugfree.org). The website is "a new, first-of-its-kind resource to help parents spot signs and symptoms, have productive conversations with their teens, and find outside help if they need it."

Conference: Wounds of War: Substance Abuse, Veterans and Active Duty Military

The Center for Substance Abuse at Columbia University (CASA) is sponsoring a one-day conference on Wednesday, May 20, 2009 in New York City. The conference will "offer solutions to make sure our brave men and women receive all the support they need to re-establish their lives when they return home." September is National Alcohol & Drug Addiction Recovery Month

Sponsored by the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT), Recovery Month highlights the societal benefits of substance abuse treatment, lauds the contributions of treatment providers and promotes the message that recovery from substance abuse in all its forms is possible. The observance also serves to educate the public on substance abuse as a national health crisis, that addiction is a treatable disease, and that recovery is possible.
